PARTNERING WITH L.A. WORKS

Working with us to coordinate volunteer experiences is one of the best ways to keep your company and colleagues connected in service to the community. We are happy to work with you to customize a one-time or ongoing opportunity that fits your need.

HANDS-ON SERVICE

Prior to COVID, L.A. Works specialized in customizing projects for groups of 50 or more employees to revitalize, beautify, and makeover a public school or community center. It was a great opportunity for team building, community engagement, and a morale boost!

Starting this spring, L.A. Works will resume these in-person activities – with very important adjustments. Depending on the size of the space, L.A. Works will schedule small teams spread out throughout the day(s) to complete the project. No students, clients, or individuals other than your employees and L.A. Works leaders will be on-site at the time.

From a single day, large-scale makeover to quarterly projects, we’ll work with you to create your ideal opportunity, built specifically to engage your employees and meet your company’s service needs. Customized hands-on projects can include: painting, murals, gardening, cleaning, light construction, and more.

OUR CORPORATE PROJECTS

A turn-key volunteer opportunity for your team to decorate and assemble kits that will go directly to those in need. Examples include: painting mural panels, creating stuffed animals, no-sew blankets, after-school activity kits, new mother kits, COVID-19 safety kits, and more.

PROJECT IN A BOX: We’ll create an individual box of supplies for your employees to complete at home (on a video call or independently), for a fun, creative way to engage your employees in benefitting a deserving local nonprofit organization. To ensure your team’s safety, we can arrange a contactless supply pick-up and drop-off for completed items.

DRIVE-IN: If you have a large parking lot, we’re happy to coordinate a drive-in event where volunteers park in designated, socially distanced spaces to complete a project at tables by their individual cars, but at the same time as the team.

VIRTUAL EVENT: Employees can use their professional and personal experience to make a difference in the community from home, we coordinate group webinars and are with you every step of the way.

MENTOR WORKSHOPS & CAREER PANELS: Make a positive impact on the lives of marginalized youth and young adults. Meet virtually in small groups to teach skill-building activities, or as a larger group and host a career panel.  These can be singular events or an ongoing series.

We can tailor workshops and discussions to fit your company’s mission. Example topics can include: goal setting, college applications/essays, financial literacy, resumes and cover letters, and more.

SKILL-BASED VOLUNTEERING: Make a lasting impact by bringing your team’s skills and knowledge directly to the community. Pair your expertise with a nonprofit in need of consulting on clearly defined, short-term, high-impact strategy projects.

Common topics include: marketing, HR, social media, IT, finance, and other common business issue areas. We can arrange single projects with one organization or multiple projects with one or more nonprofits.

EMPOWER BOOTCAMPS

Attack societal issues at the policy level by learning about an issue and then completing an advocacy action that combats it. L.A. Works and our partners will identify and recruit experts to create a customized, exclusive virtual volunteer opportunity that empowers your employees to actively address the issues of today, within the Los Angeles community and beyond.

Courses

We will customize a four-week series, with sessions consisting of an education component and an action. To maximize employee engagement, volunteers can sign up for one or more of the sessions within the series.

Bootcamps are available on the topics of racial justice, climate change, academia, homelessness, and food insecurity.

CONCIERGE + PLACEMENT SERVICE

We are happy to manage your team’s volunteer experience. Through our concierge and placement services, you tell us what your employees are looking for, and we’ll take care of the rest.

CONCIERGE: Outsource your employee volunteer program to L.A. Works. With our extensive relationships with nonprofit organizations, our team is knowledgeable about the needs within the community. We work one-on-one with your employees to identify volunteer experiences of interest, then connect you with the best fit.

GROUP PLACEMENT SERVICE: L.A. Works will identify and reserve volunteer opportunities for your team. Once projects are selected, we will hand off all the details to your team for day-of execution. We can also create a sign-up page for each opportunity.
